Aldwark Manor is a grand hotel within the area of outstanding natural beauty around York. For our Aldwark Manor Review we visited for a full weekend and booked many spa treatments alongside meals in the restaurant.

A gorgeous setting, it sits back from the road providing a tranquil peaceful place to go. The golf course is very busy but due to the designated golfers bar, it doesn’t encroach on the hotel at all.

We booked a luxury double room that was comfortable with its own table and chairs. Clean and bright, this room was much like you would expect in any four star hotel (minus the slippers and dressing gown).

The facilities were incredible from the pool to the steam room and sauna, while the beauty treatments (a full body massage, deluxe manicure and pedicure) really did feel like complete luxury. We were very impressed with the leisure side of Aldwark Manor alongside the SPA and would happily visit again, while we’d also book a spa day without question.

The gym was fully equipped and clean and used the latest technology to make a work out a luxury. This is a hotel that doesn’t disappoint, it ticks every box for cleanliness, facilities and comfort.

The food was fine, although a little bland, such as the fruit cocktail that consisted of apples and oranges. For such a price we would expect some summer berries or tropical fruits, even kiwi, mango or pomegranate.

The desk service was pretty snooty too, we’d arrived straight from work and after releasing three children from our ankles. We were shattered, frazzled and not dressed in our best clothes and the looks we received showed this was noticed. While other guests were offered umbrellas for stepping out in the rain, we were looked at with disdain. The service here needs to be worked on, as it knocked a full star off this otherwise fine review.

With better customer service we would stay again and would also like to bring the children. We think it would provide a great base for visiting family in Yorkshire and would be a wonderful hole to retreat to.

For better food that tickles the tastebuds and satisfies the Michelin Star connoisseurs, take a short walk into the village and book into the pub. It’s gourmet food at its finest.
